West Toho, Richardson Ramp, Saturday, August 15th.
Cocoa Bassmasters had our August tournament of year 2015 on West Toho Saturday, August 15th out of the Richardson ramp. It was a great overcast day for fishing, with a good stiff wind making boat control a task all day long. Toho has been heavily pressured and the bass took notice and were very tight lipped all day. Some fish were caught but only three five fish limits were weighed in. Jimmy Blount delivered his usual strong performance as our first place winner, bringing in five fish weighing 9.80 pounds. Rick Jenkins took second place with four bass weighing 9.36 pounds. Anchoring his string was big bass at 3.75 pounds. James McPeak claimed third place with five fish weighing 7.28 pounds. Jack Berry had five fish for 6.11 pounds to take fourth place. Frank Rodericks caught three fish for 5.02 pounds to take fifth place. Charles Kilgore had three fish for 4.86 pounds to claim sixth place. Clarence “Z-Man” Jones, had three fish for 4.84 pounds for seventh place. Jerry Delong caught four fish for 4.33 pounds to take eighth place. The weights for the rest of us fell off pretty quickly so we want talk about any details. Lake Gentry, Saturday, July 11th
Lake Gentry was unusually tough for our July tournament. Adam Brandes toughed out three fish that weighed 6.85 pounds to take first place. Jack Berry was tough enough to catch our only limit weighing 5.14 pounds to finish in second place. Jimmy Blount is always tough! Jimmy had three fish weighing 4.82 pounds for third place. Rick Jenkins brought in three fish weighing 3.02 pounds for fourth place. The rest of us were not tough, struggling to catch one or two fish. I won’t mention the two of us that could not catch a fish at all. Lake Monroe, Saturday, June 13th
Cocoa Bassmasters had a great day on Lake Monroe Saturday in our June 13 tournament. Old ugly guy battles young gun and old ugly guy comes out on top. Jack Berry topped everyone with a limit weighing 13.24 pounds. With that performance, Jack takes over first place in the year to date standings. Young gun, Adam Brandes came in second with a limit weighing 12.59 pounds. James McPeak captured third place with a limit weighing 10.94 pounds. Jerry Delong had three good fish weighing 10.04 pounds to place fourth. Carl Cullifer had a limit weighing 9.85 pounds for fifth place. Frank Roderick caught a hog weighing 8.63 pounds for the big bass of the day. His two fish weighing 9.84 pounds captured sixth place. The rest of us battled it out for the also fished positions as reflected in the table above. All in all it was a good day on Lake Monroe.

Blue Cypress Lake, Saturday, May 2nd
Young guns ruled the day as Adam Brandes brought in a limit weighing 14.12 pounds with big bass at 6.31 pounds. Adam is one of our graduates from our youth program, the Cocoa Bassmasters Jr’s. We kid him that we taught him how to fish but I think he was already way ahead of us all along. Charles Kilgore (young in spirit only) brought in a limit weighing 11.85 pounds to take second place. Rick Jenkins kept the pressure on the rest of us with a limit weighing 9.69 pounds. In the last four tournaments, Rick has finished first, second, first and placed third in this one. That is a lot of pressure on the rest of us folks. Jack Berry kept pace with a fourth place limit weighing 9.63 pounds. James McPeak caught four fish weighing 8.28 pounds to take fifth place. Jerry Delong caught three bass weighing 6.25 pounds to take sixth place. Jerry won the mudfish tournament with four weighing 22 pounds. He got so distracted with the mudfish that he forgot to catch more bass. The catch dropped off after that so we want go into the details. Everyone had a great day on the most beautiful lake in Florida. Trouble on the road. Carl Cullifer had a trailer hub sheer off all five bolts at the same time. He had to put on a complete new hub assembly and did not get to the lake until noon. Charles Kilgore had a brake line spring a leak just as he reached highway 60 on the way home. Frank Roderick came to my rescue. Frank hitched a ride with Carl back to Rockledge to get his truck. He then came back to Vero Beach to hitch my boat to his truck and brought me and my rig safely back to Cape Canaveral. It was after nine before we got everything secured. Now that is going beyond the call of duty. Thanks Frank!!!

Miami Garcia, Saturday, April 11th
Cocoa Bassmasters had a good day on Miami Garcia Saturday in our April 11th tournament. As usual on Jimmy’s Mud Hole it was a hot muggy day. Back in the tall reed beds there was hardly any breeze at all. Guess where the fish were!!! Yep, as far back in as they could swim or crawl. Rick Jenkins had a great day with a limit of five for a total weight of 11.5 pounds. He also showed his butt by catching big bass of the day weighing 4.48 pounds. Adam Brandes pressured Rick with a limit weighing 11.33 pounds to capture second place. Jack Berry had a limit weighing 9.65 pounds to place third. Walt Sadowski caught a limit weighing 8.5 pounds for fourth place. Bill Holze came in fifth place with three good fish weighing 6.85 pounds. Jimmy Blount caught a limit weighing 6.56 pounds for sixth place. The rest of us also caught fish and had a good day on the lake.

West Toho, Saturday, March 14h.
Cocoa Bassmasters had our March tournament of year 2015 on West Toho Saturday, March 14th. It was a great day for fishing, with a good stiff wind keeping the gnats anchored to the weeds. Toho has been heavily pressured with a major three day FLW tournament the previous weekend and a 100 boat ABA tournament the same day we fished. The bass took notice and were very tight lipped all day. Some great fish were caught with three going over five pounds. Rick Jenkins, our first place winner, came in with four fish weighing 11.37 pounds, one over five plus pounds. Charles Kilgore took second place with four bass weighing 9.21 pounds. Anchoring his string was big bass at 5.80 pounds. Jimmy Blount claimed third place with four fish weighing 8.24 pounds which included a five pounder. Jack Berry had five fish for 7.36 pounds to take fourth place. Adam Brandes caught four fish for 6.63 pounds to take fifth place. Carl Cullifer had four fish for 5.59 pounds to claim sixth place. Kissimmee-Overstreet, Saturday, September 12h. Cocoa Bassmasters had our September tournament of year 2015 on Kissimmee out of the Overstreet ramp, Saturday, September 12th.  It was a great day for fishing, with an overcast sky cooling everything down and promising active bass all day. An early morning breeze suggested bass may chase reaction baits. Swimming worms through the grass beds once again proved to be the most effective technique. The bass were tight lipped all day but some of our guys found them and did well. Jack Berry, our first place winner, came in with five good fish averaging three pounds each for a total string weighing 14.39 pounds. Jimmy Blount also located good fish and took second place with five bass weighing 13.15 pounds. Anchoring his string was big bass at 4.42 pounds. Adam Brandes claimed third place with five fish weighing 10.73 pounds. Rick Jenkins had five fish for 9.97 pounds to take fourth place. Jerry Delong caught four fish for 4.57 pounds to take fifth place. Larry Knoch had three fish for 4.25 pounds to claim sixth place. Roger Patton had three fish for 3.72 pounds for seventh place.
